1937 commercial pickup wiring issue

First off, I am NEW.....I have a wiring dilema. I have a 1937 1 1/2 ton. The truck came with a 2 brush generator and a regulator on it. No breaker on the generator. I am replacing the wiring harness's on the truck. I ordered the correct harness for the motor that has the regulator. I ordered the correct harness for the 37 dash. Now....I have two issues to resolve. First...... the coil wire from the 37 dash harness should go direct to the coil, but the engine harness has its own wire that goes under the dash to the resistor. I am pretty sure I can just connect these two together under the dash. Correct me if that is wrong. Second.....the regulator has a tab labeled "bat" which the wiring diagram says should get a yellow wire from the dash harness. Obviously that isn't there, so can I just make a jumper from the yellow wire under the dash? There is a yellow/black wire that is available from the dash harness that would normally go to the breaker on the generator. Would that work as the yellow to the regulator "bat" terminal?

I can get pictures and diagrams if someone needs. Hoping someone with experience can clarify my issues.....

I just replaced the harness in my 1/2 ton 37 pick up and the underdash and engine was just one harness. I was almost too easy to install. It should be the same as the bigger truck, basicly the same engine and guages ect.

my guess would be, from looking at '37 and '40 wiring diagrams, that the wires are the same for both setups....generator with cutout and generator with regulator...wire from coil goes to resistance unit, then to ignition switch....then to fuse block...colors of the wires are the same for both years..yellow and black wire to either the cutout....or the BAT on the regulator....i think that's correct, but hopefully someone with more experience than i will give you a better answer.....Mike

Mike, thanks for the second opinion. I think we are right with using the yellow black to BAT. Will let you know how it works out.....
