1937-40 Ford Window Regulator Repair Kits.

Can I please get confirmation as to the correct window regulator repair kit needed for my aussie 1940 Dlx Sloper.

I am converting my factory window mechanisms from the Aussie spline regulators over to the US square shaft versions. As there is neither reproduction handles or the regulators are invariably in poor usable condition.

The production of these Ford Slopers only occurred for the year 1939 and 1940 in both the Std and Dlx versions. With certain body panels and parts used in both year models.

Mine being the 40 Dlx the front doors, are the long doors with 40 vent window and 40 inner door panel.
However the rear quarter windows utilised the 38/39 window regulators and same year inner door panel.

So what I have (Aussie Factory) is 1940 front window mechanisms and 1938-39 tudor type rear window mechanisms.
The first two pictures are my aussie window mechanism with shown regulators and the 2nd set of pictures is the US with the square shaft regulators.

In my haste to get these mechanisms restored and ready to go I removed the aussie regulators and junked them without taken note of the tooth count on the regulators.
I have also attached a picture of the reproduction regulator repair kits (6 tooth).

I would like to order these to finish of the resto on these mechanisms and would like from the collective gurus here to confirm that these mechanisms take the 6 tooth regulator on both the 40 and 38-39, before I order and possibly order the wrong versions.

All help appreciated,, thanks.

Hello

What I see is bad news... and worse news... and maybe good (but expensive news).

1. The handle shaft mount/pinion/clutch on the door regulator appears to be the "tuna can" (OK, "tuna tin") style that defies replacing with the more common "beehive" styles (there were at least two).

2. The good (but expensive) news here is that Drake is showing the 1940 Tudor reproduction regulators in stock.

3. The second regulator looks to be (and have the part number marked on it) for a door regulator for a 1937-39. I do not know if they used that in the quarter window in AU, in US practice a different regulator and bottom channel was used that is very similar to the 1934 door regulator/channel. Page copies from the 1937 Hardware and trim book are attached showing the 1937-39 door regulator (78-702700/1-A) and 1937-40 quarter regulator (78-703600/1-A), and the 1937-40 quarter bottom channel (78-703520/1) illustrate this. The quarter regulator and channel are not reproduces though NORS ones are somewhat common and it is possible a 1934 regulator and channel could be substituted.

Thanks Karl,, for the reply and information. I will keep the information on hand when doing the install..... However would like to know which tooth count repair kit is the one,, cheers

hi oz 40 good to hear about your sloper I really am enjoying mine , ive a 39 deluxe sloper , do you have access to any mk 1 or 2 Cortina window regulators I used the drive gear and shaft square drive for handles in my 38 deluxe club coupe 30 years ago and they still work great

Thankyou all. All sorted they are 6 tooth. Now I can go about ordering the rebuild kits..

Check e-Bay as there are several regulator repair kits listed. Don't order until you know the tooth count on the pinion gear.
