Hello all,
Please advise where I can find the vin number of exported Ford pickup years 1937 to 1939.

I searched around the three locations of the driver's side top frame (steering box, cabin support, and rear cross frame). Also I searched at top of the transmission housing. I can't find any number.

Not sure about 37 & 38's but my 39 Mercury in on the left frame rail up near the radiator, NOT back near the firewall!!!! I "think" 39 Ford is the same!!!! Is it "right hand" drive?? IF so look on the right frame rail up near where the radiator is.

It is right hand, not UK . It is American style. I believe it is 1938 1/2 ton pickup.

.

I seem to remember reading that PICK-UPS (at least American-produced pick-ups) ONLY stamped the frame rail in the ONE, FRONT location. BEWARE ..... I COULD BE full of it AGAIN!

Thank you all for the quick responses!
I think that is the case. I was following the attached diagram, but I can't find any number. I had to the remove the bed and lift the cabin of the pickup a lot of work. Not luck :( yet.

Do you know which front location?
I scratched already the bedliner coat in many locations, I can't find it.

Thank you very much! I found it. After mistakenly removing the bed and the cab and scratching as per typical diagram.
Now the question is how many numbers letters it should have?

Dickie, That '40 pickup I'd restored was stamped in three places.

That wuz THE one special day when the entire production crew that happened to show-up was made up of all of the COSCIENTIOUS dudes. They put their hearts into that little truck ..... just like YOU did! Merry Christmas!!

Starting in either '38 or '39 you could get a voltage regulator in a pickup at no cost upon request. Mallast documented it in the notes of his '38/'39 book.

Didn't realize Mallest wrote a book about the trucks. I did know he wrote a book about the passenger cars and in it mentioned a regulator being installed upon vehicles with a radio.
Never heard of a radio in a '38 or '39 pickup before.
