1936 LB marking

Thanx Mike! I pulled an engine with a 35 up pan and ventilation so I guess I would need to pull the pan to see if it is a babbit crank. The engine sounded ok but did not carry much oil pressure. I have a 37 engine that will be it's successor, hopefully!

A bore scope up the oil drain hole might get a good view of a main cap. A scale attached to an extension arm of the camera could verify cap stud spacing. Might just be quicker to just pull the pan, I don't know!

EDIT: Time be damned! In my book, the novelty factor would tip the scales!

This drawing is an easy way to I.D. an L.D. block

Yes the ones that came from Ford in 1936 that I have come across all had the LB stamped on the blocks.

Ronnie, I have little doubt that all the 36 blocks you have come across were marked.
However, it has been well researched and documented that not all blocks were stamped.
