1936 Ford

I would say it depends on what you are sacrificing?. Everything from the cowl forward is the same, coupe and/or sedan. The running boards are all the same as are the bumpers. With few exceptions nothing from the cowl back on a sedan will work on a coupe. The chassis' are all the same regardless of the body style.

I have 36 Fordor doors on my 36 5W Coupe. It does require modifications at the top of the door to remove material to match the 5W size. In addition you need to add a small piece of sheet metal inside the rolled edge of the door to match the original shape. It does require patience, but everything fits fine after these modifications.

How bad is the coupe?

On the HAMB also there is a guy that is building a roadster from a 4 door.
