Will a 1936 car ; Hydraulic brake setup work on a 1934 Ford car, a fellow has a set that he claims are off a 36 Ford, less the front drums, he says the front are for Round spindles ???? , are there other types of spindles ? he wants $325 for the backing plates; the front as well as the complete setup for the back which are in like new cond. any thoughts on this , thanks Barners ..

Al,

Does this guy live in England by any chance (sorry, I couldn't resist)? First the 1936 Ford had mechanical brakes. Second if it had hydraulic brakes the drums had the wrong bolt pattern ('36 was 5 on 10 1/4). Third you don't need the spindles, just use a $25 adapter set to install hydraulic brakes on a '34. Now assuming he made a few mistakes like forgetting to tell you that the '36 had been converted to hydraulic brakes, you might want to ask for a few pictures and post them. If you go to hydraulics on your '34 be sure to contact Richard Lacy at earlyv8@aol.com about the adapter he makes to use your original pedals and adapt to a hydraulic master cylinder.

Thanks again Charlie for your continuing support... BTW, the $25 adaptor set is actually only $20, and consists of two very-brittle cast iron piston rings and
two valve seats that are not the correct dimensions. Dave Wilton used to make a "Deluxe" set that he handed off to me to have made. They are $49.95 but are well worth the difference...
