1936 Ford 1/2 ton. Hi everyone looking for some advice. My engine has been rebuilt and runs smooth and faultless. But while under the hood checking oil I noticed that the Bob Drake glass bowl fuel pump which is new to the rebuild less than 500 miles on engine, had a little bit of fuel seepage around the outside of the diaphragm where the 2 halves join together. It’ doesnt get any worse under load when its revving. Tightened the screws but still seeping. Is this cause to replace the pump ?

I had a Bob Drake pump once. On mine, the glass bowl was not round and would only fit the body in a certain spot. Before I understood what was going on it would leak, and then while fooling around I managed to get it stuck on where it wouldn't fit, then chipped the glass getting it off. In the trash it went, replaced with a rebuilt original

I think you are right, it’s just a repro rubbish. Difficult for me as in the UK but will look for one on E Bay. In the meantime I have ordered a Carter pump made in Mexico so hopefully have better luck with that. Can you recommend anyone who sells rebuilt pumps ? I can get it sent to my mate in a Kansas who will forward it on to me. Thanks for the reply.

Mike at thirdgenauto.com rebuilds Ford pumps I believe. He also has an EBay store. Charlie in the post above is one of the best for pumps and carbs. Either one of these two guys will set you up. And I agree with Skip (cas3), I had a Drake pump and it was junk…..Mark

the drake pump i got had metric hardware, was clocked wrong and put out over 5 psi. sits on the shelf now.
