is there a difference between early and late 1936 drum/hub combo since there are many one off parts for late 36

Nope. Only the front hub and drums are unique to 36’. There’s no between early and late 36’.

There are early rear drum and hubs and late. Suggest you get the 35-36 restoration book from the Early Ford V8 Club web site.

In the state of Missouri, it is illegal to operate a car or light truck with a drum that is more than 0.060" over. In the case of a twelve inch (12") drum, that would be 12.060".

Correct, I forgot about the bearing diameter change in the hub. They transitioned from the larger, early style to the smaller diameter that was common into the 40's.

There were early versions of the '36 wide 5 drums both front and rear.
