I have been helping my son put the weatherstrip seal on his 1936 coupe. Does the weathermstrip (seal) cover the drain holes or is it cut to go aaround the drains? Also does the larger piece go on the deck lid, and the smaller piece go on the body? We have the Bob Drake weather strip package. Thank You. Pictures would also be appreciated.

You are correct that the lid has the wider seal and the body has the smaller width seal. U-shape toward the lid and the body respectively. I do not know if the original cars had holes over the drain hoses, but I did cut a hole in the body side seal over each hose.

If you got a Drake seal set, there should have been a diagram indicating the orientation and which seal goes where.

If you have an old Drake catalogue it should also show the orientation.

Catalog drawing and partially installed body side seal with "U" side down.
