1936 clamshell bolt help

Can somebody tell me the correct position of the ell head bolt that holds the clamsheel to the trans. I thought ths flat would go to the center of the housing.Vanpelts drawing shows it laying in the rubber slot. Mac is out today or I would ask him. Thanks I would like to get this done this weekend.

Every trans I have taken out has the nut going toward the rear end and the bolt head, including ell head bolts on the trans side.
