1936 Cabriolet Drop Top Info Needed

Does anyone make a reference guide to instruct how to correctly put down the top of a 1936 Cabriolet. I found one for a '36 Club Cabriolet. Is this used the same as a regular Cabriolet? (Club has the backseat and mine is just the rumble seat). Thanks!

I don't see why there would be any difference in putting the top up and down on Cab or the Club Cab. Top works the same on both.

The safest way to raise or lower the top is with a helper. Do not try it alone until you have done it with a helper numerous times.
Unsnap and unzip the back window, lay it into the empty top well.
Unsnap all around the outside, and release the stretcher levers.
Remove the front hold down hand screws, and the side hinge lock hand screws.
Begin lifting, and carefully fold the side hinges. Don't pinch your fingers!
Watching the canvas to prevent punctures, continue folding the top into the top well.
When properly folded, it will stick up some, but don't force it down.
The top boot can then be installed.

The Cabriolet has its own set of instructions. Here are images from the booklet.

One can count on Don to come up with what's needed as far as 35-36's are concerned. He be 'da man.

Hi Everyone, Not only did Don answer with pictures of historical documents, he also did it on two different message boards!

I'll 2x Lawson on this one. We are very lucky to have the benefit of Don's knowledge and generosity!

Here's a little of his handy-work (I hope it doesn't hijack this thread, but the question seems answered).

Thank You both for your kind statements! The checks are in the mail!!!!!

Merry Christmas!!

Er... Don, I, too, am very grateful for your help and have not forgotten your excellent help when I began tracking down 1936 Convertible sedans in an effort to determine how many of each style were produced. We haven't gotten a final answer but would be FAR from where we are if it had not been for your initial help. Thanks again.

And by the way; you can send me one of those checks, too!!

Merry Christmas!

Al

Al, Thanks. I almost forgot about that project. I'm out of Wheat so I'll send you Rice Chex!!

Merry Christmas

When you say unsnap all the way around, do you mean all the way around the lower back end (are there hidden snaps that need to be unsnapped from the body that's underneath that belt?)? I just don't understand where my snaps are to where I snap my convertible boot when the top is down. Thank you!!

Don - the last instruction says to snap the top boot into place. Are the snaps you use the ones that you unsnapped from the windshield? I appreciate your help.

Wolfords, I have attached several photos that show the snaps that hold the top sides in place as well as the snaps that hold the boot in place. The back of the top below the rear window does not unsnap. It is permanently held in place by a row of top boot snap fasteners. There are also a row of snap fasteners along the top edge of the front seat to hold the boot in place.

Don - now I know I'm not a complete moron. It makes perfect sense. I do not have any of the snaps for the top boot. I guess when they replaced the top canvas they never installed the snaps (and now I know why the original boot is still in the wrapper). I assume I'll need to drill and install the screws in place? Thank you so much!
