1936 A Pillars

Trying to clear up some misguided information. I have seen some threads on here that the only cars that had the extra cowl brace was the convertible sedans and cabriolets. I have a 36 roadster and need to replace my lower A pillars as they are gone and am not sure what they are suppose to look like. I have read else where that the roadster/phaetons did have this extra brace and a similiar A pillar like the convertible sedans. Does anyone have a picture of an original roadster A pillar I could use for reference? I see EMS sells these open car A pillars but I am not convinced they are correct? It would make sense that there would be an extra support for a car with no top?

While EMS makes some good products to work with , but I feel their approach to making their parts leans more toward fuction than being correct. I haven't looked at what they offer in regards to open car A pillars so I can't comment on what they offer for this. Is this what you are looking for?

I just got a pair of them last week for a phaeton and if you would like I can take a pic of them next to originals still in a car. I don't know who makes these for Drake , but it might be EMS

Yes, but I've been told there is an extra brace on open cars with two bolts going thru floor and thru extra brace but the bob drake A pillar only has one hole that goes thru the frame rail. Just trying to figure out what is correct for the roadsters as I need to rebuild mine?

Perhaps the attached photo will help. It's of a phaeton, but the cowls are the same on both body types. Everything in the photo is original to the car (nothing repaired or replaced as neither was required).

WS Roadsters and Phaetons didn't use the extra frame brace under the floor, so their "A" piller brace had only one hole. The reproduction shown in Drakes and Carpenters catalogues is correct. Here are some extra images.

Wanner, You're not talking about the cowl re-inforcements at front bottom corners of the cowl are you? The open cars had additional bracing in those points, the braces are riveted and welded to bottoms of cowl, and use two bolts each through the chassis, and another to tie to the fender. Your roadster will have them.

No brian, the last two responses answered my question, thanks everyone for all your help, there is so much disinformation out there it can get quite confusing as to what is correct and what is not.
