My RHD British built coupe arrived home this month, so after being on display at the National Classic Car Show in Birmingham GB, we have set about removing the 22HP engine for a rebuild, and started to look at what I need to do to the car, which is very little in reality.
With 19652 miles on the clock the coupe is as original as it was in 1939, apart from the 1950 tyres, battery and a more recent exhaust box.
It's the only Dagenham built 1935 three window coupe known with the 22 HP engine, the original 4 bearing crank engine was replaced in 1939 with a Ford replacement 62 engine, which is now in pieces, and is original to the 1939 registration book.
The engine will need one stainless steel side plate repairing where frost damage has split welds due to the freeze bulging out the stainless steel side plate, a rebore, new valves, and two new heads, where the ally had turned to crystals internally. Plus water pumps etc, but the crank is as new,
Aside from a few rubber parts which have turned to rock, I also need a RHD Taupe front floor mat, and a battery cover, the battery box is on the RH side, the cover is missing. The mat is the original and is evidently a blank US Mat which was cut for the RHD model, I have seen new mats for sale in the US cut pre cut for LHD, but no blank mats.
Does anyone know where I can locate a blank taupe mat, or let me have the name of the mat manufacturer who supplies the US parts resellers. A pic or reference to the battery cover would be appreciated, as would the dimensions for the 6v battery.
