1935 pickup wire wheel adaptoers

Beside an adapter, you may need about an 1 1/2 spacer because the outer rim of the inner part of the wheel will prevent the wheel from contacting the drum. Your drum may be small enough so the wheel will fit - if so then you won't need the spacer.

Personally, If you need the spacer, I think this will cause too much load on the bearing and you will get bearing failure or axle breakage.

You can get 35 type wheels with the center section compatible with the drum, but I don't remember who was the supplier.

If you decide to go ahead with this, there is a Fred Goeske that will make any kind of adapter you need., thickness included. www.wheeladapter.com. His company is Design deluxe MFG. He made a set for me for my 27T which had F-100 brakes with 35 wires. They were very nicely made.

The only reason I went this way (because of the bearing load problem) was that the car was a glass, hot rod type T with a flathead. A very light car and it was not used regularly.

It's important to remember to make sure that the EFV8 wire wheels contact the edge of the drum AND the center. The proper adapters (available from Rich @ the Early V8 Garage) have a raised area to contact the center of the wheel near the stud holes. Look at 32 -35 drums and you will see a flat around the edge to contact the wide portion of the wheel. If that was not necessary adapters would not be needed with original 40 Ford drums.
