1935 Pickup Vacuum Wipers

I would like to install a vacuum windshield wiper on my 35 pickup. I am ditching the electric set up. IMHO, it is out of place and fits poorly.

My distributor vacuum advance operates from a fitting towards the front of the manifold. There is a brass plug at the base of the Strindberg 97. Is this where the vacuum fitting for wipers should be installed?

Thanks

Thank you
Now-
What is that type of fitting called?
Where do I find that fitting?
I have already drawn blanks from several online Early Ford V-8 suppliers.

What's wrong with using the hole in the intake manifold that is designed to be used for the wipers??? Where are you attaching the banjo fitting???

Bruce,
If your flathead has the standard intake manifold, there should be two vacuum ports (like what Lawson is mentioning). One towards the front is for the distributor vacuum connection and the other towards the back is for the wiper vacuum connection.

I only have one opening in the intake manifold. It is towards the front of the manifold and is used for advancing the timing of the distributor.

There are two bosses towards the rear which have not been drilled and tapped.

There is a brass 1/4” plug in the cast iron base of the carburetor. This plug can be easily removed. The threaded hole appears ready to accept a banjo fitting.

Hello,

Here is a better photo showing the Banjo fitting connected to the intake manifold towards the rear of the carburetor. On my intake manifold there is only one tapped hole in the base where the carburetor sits.

36 pick up: That is a 41 cast iron intake manifold. 41 used the vacuum from the banjo bolt for the wipers. The banjo fitting supplies vacuum to the distributor brake.

Papa: Don't know what you have since you do not have the 41 style as shown above and just one fitting at the front of the manifold and no second location at the rear of the manifold. More info, or a photo, is needed. Your carburetor is post war and the plug is not for either your distributor or wiper.
