1935 model 48 Fordor Headliner ?

Hello all... I have questions about installing the headliner. My Model 48 Fordor has 10 short wire bows that screw into the roof around the edge of the roof above the doors. These are no more than about 11 inches in length. In addition, there are five wooden bows that support the top. My headliner has sewn sleeves that appear to be used for headliner bows. Can anyone explain how this headline is to be properly installed? Thanks!

The sleeves are tacked to the wood bows then fed into the wires at end at each side ,you may need to trim back the sleeve at each end ,front to back is a loose stretch ,finial stretch is sideways ,

It should be noted that the sleeve is tacked to the front of the wood bow with the seam to follow the curvature of the bow.

Photo shows the wire detail at the end of the bow.

This is exactly the information I was looking for. It's a big help! www.newstalgiaparts.com has sewn a great headliner for me and I hope to install it this weekend. Great folks to work with! I was thinking instead of tacking the Sleeves to the wooden bows that I'd use some pan head screws instead. Less banging on those bows as well.

As a suggestion use a good staple gun or buy a cheap air stapler from Harbor Freight to staple it to the wood bows. Mark the center of each wood bow and mark the center of each cloth bow on the headliner. Once the cloth is hung on center on the bow work side to side with a staple gun or tacks.

Start from the back and work towards the front of the car tacking it to the tack strip above the windshield.Mine was a LBB kit and I installed it per their instructions. They said to drop the sleeve down a bit from the wood bow before stapling it.33,34 do not have the wires

McMaster-Carr has 3/16" spring steel rods available in various lengths. It's been a while since I worked on a headliner, but that's about the size I remember. In any event, there are enough specialty vendors out there with something that's got to be better than brake line or coat hangers.
