1935 Fuel guage

I would like to replace the fuel guage with something more reliable in my ‘35 four door convertible sedan. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I used a 36 gauge, which fits perfectly in a 35 dash, along with a Tanks gas tank and their 6v sending unit. When I fill the tank, the needle goes up past full but when empty it's right on the E mark. I rather know when its close to empty than how full the tank is.

I prefer the Bob Drake tank as it correctly locates the fuel line and has the correct thread for the fuel filler pipe.
As for the gauge find a 36 gauge and the replacement senders are at all good ford suppliers like Thirdgen.
You will have to then run wiring to the gas tank too.
I’ll pm you a link to the Facebook 1935 convertible sedan page. Dan

The fuel guage I have is a dual guage, both fuel and oil; is there a difference in this and the ‘36 guage? The guage doesn’t appear to have any colored fluid in it so I don’t know if the guage is bad or the sender or both? Also, the car was converted to 12 volt. Any suggestion how to troubleshoot this?

IF your gauge has NO red fluid, It could be that it just needs a good cleaning and ad the red dye back to it. Is the 1/8 brass line from the tank to the gauge still installed on the back??? AND also attached at the fuel sending unit on the tank???
