1935 Ford V8 radiator.

Hi All,
I sent my radiator in to be re-cored. My local repair shop have fitted a modern core that is only 2 inches thick instead of 3 inches thick. I have complained, but have been told the modern brass core will be much more efficient and it will be ok. My instincts tell me otherwise and I would welcome members input.
Thanks regards
Viv.

Seems to me that with this new core your cooling system capacity will hold less water/coolant. The new core will have to be very efficient to make up for this loss of coolant capacity. I would trust your instincts on this one....

BTW - How many quarts of water will the cooling system accept with this new core???

Sounds like they are doing a sell job on you,,, I'd be a bit nervous myself on that. Flatheads and heat don't like to play well together.

Call Gary Bergbower and ask his opinion he is an expert on the Model A side anyway, best guy around. He may be able to give you some advice on this.

I've heard that these new radiators have larger tubes and are based on hi volume flow . I guess better then an old one packed with forging sand ......
