I have a 1935 Ford coupe, 5 window with rumble seat, trying to confirm either way if there is a water troff to catch water that comes off of the deck lid. Can anyone help me out with this? Also what does it look like? Jim

Jim-

Sorry, no trough! Ford just let the water run off the lid onto the floor pan where a couple of small drain holes would allow the water to drain out. Basically, it was a "Hope everything would evaporate" system. This probably explains why so many original Ford rumble seat cars have rotted rear pans.

I, too, found the original (hope everything evaporates) system flawed. I took a round punch and made several drain holes, in the lowest points, in my rear pan. It might not be original, but I like my idea better !

I have original parts that direct the water out of the car, this may have been a running change.( pun intended) 541-582-8966

I have an early 1935 trunk model coupe which didn't originally have any drainage system, however later model '35 & '36 trunk models apparently did. Picture below, which I saved from somewhere, shows the location of one of the corner drain pipes on a '35. The rubber hoses which take the water from there through the floorpan were part #48-725854 and are sold by several suppliers. Haven't had any experience with rumble seat models, but guessing they didn't have this system, as others have said, because there is not a "trough" across the bottom of the opening.

EDIT NOTE: Just noticed this is an OLD post and he's likely got it figured out by now!!
