1935 Ford 5w Coupe Header question

Good afternoon everyone,

I am in the final stages of my '35 build, and I purchased a Header Panel off of ebay to fit it-after getting it metal finished to my liking, I tried to fit it, only to realize that I was definitely doing something wrong-:(

So, I came here and found an excellent thread on Headers (mine seems to be correct), but, it appears that I am missing the tack strips-I've searched all of the known suppliers I can think of (Drake, Wescott's, early Ford, etc.), and am having no luck-

So, does anyone know where to get/make them? They appear to have a few weird bends (?), so I am looking for any advise here-

Thank you very much!!!

If you are talking about the metal channels that hold the tack material they are not reproduced. The pieces out of a fordor sedan or tudor sedan should fit. The tack material can be replaced in the channel and Drake sells that material. You can pop rivet the material to the channel.

Some pictures that might help you understand what may be missing on your car......

Thank you for you thoughts and pictures!!

It's hard to tell from the Photos, but are the strips flat? Or angle? I don't know where to get them (I can't find where anyone has sold them, and don't know of any Cars near me that do), but I wonder if I could just make them? They appear to be made of metal, correct?

Yes, they appear to be made from formed sheet metal. These pictures were taken awhile back for someone trying to figure out what they looked like and how they were attached. They also appear to be screwed or bolted in place. I can take more detailed pictures and email them to you some time next week if you PM me your email address. I've never seen these reproduced. May someone here has and old body with these still in place, and would sell them to you.

Thank you both for the quick replies! JM 35 Sedan, I appreciate your willingness to help, and I just may take you up on that if something doesn't turn up-

JSeery, thank you, and I will go there and take a look to see if there's something there I can glean from-I was wondering why the darn thing didn't seem to fit!

Do a search through the 'For Sale' ads on Ford Barn & on HAMB. Someone, withing the last 4 or 5 months had a set of the original steel strips for sale. May still have them.
