Looking for any information on how to rebuild by steering box. Any web sites would be helpful or if anyone has parts. I have the complete steering column but it was not turning to the right. I took it apart and found out that one it was bone dry and two full of rust and all the bearings were shot. I have found new bearings and races but need to know how to take apart and get at everything. thanks for your help. Jeff

If it were me I would just look & wait till a good one pops up on Ebay or here in Swapmeet section. Or you could just buy a Vega box, I've heard they work very good!

I am not sure how much differnce there is between the 1 1/2 ton box and the 1/2 ton steering box, but I have a NOS worm and steering shaft for 1/2 ton version. I do agree with others that the 37 and later steer abit better, but I am not sure of the differences between 1 1/2 and the lighter car and pickup boxes. Rod

Correction and my apologies...I think my eyes are going bad. I misread the original post thinking it said '32 instead of '35. So, what I said below is probably completely wrong. I am not sure which type of steering box the '35 1-1/2 ton trucks use.

Guys, he can't use a '37-'39 passenger car/light commercial vehicle type steering box in a '32. The '32-'34 has the steering arm/link in-line/parallel with the frame. The '37-'39 boxes would have a cross over under the frame type steering arm/link. He could consider using an F1 or F100 steering box.

That is what I thought. That is why I worded my post the way I did. I have an unidentified steering box that I will get pic's of in the next few days. Looks simular to the flathead style boxes, but has an extention made to the box and likely for bigger trucks. My camera does not like the cold, so I will have to warm up the shop to get pic's. Rod

Hi; The V8 Ford club guys have Greg Edwards of Oregon rebuild their steering boxes. He can be found in the national roster. Newc
