Looks like what I have in my 35 roadster .I have the antenna in the spare, you will have to isolate the spare tire mount from body for it to work

The head you show fits in the Waterfall opening. The Radio is not open car model for a 36 but for 35 it is correct.. When you install = make sure the 2 cables from the head will reach the box. (Im thinking 36) I checked the 35/36 Ford Book by the Early Ford V8 Club & page 116 shows your Radio as 35 Open Car Radio, Page 117 shows a Different Open Car Radio for 36--described as simplified & made smaller with attachable speaker. The the cables were changed from screw drive end 35 to split end 36 & the Radio could be turned on from the control head on 36. I wish they had kept the 35 waterfall design for 36 I like it better:)

The radio appears correct for 35 open car to me. The open car radio has a speaker under the cloth cover. The head I have does not have the small bar of steel between the two threaded studs. The head retainer is a U shaped flat steel bar that fits over the two threaded studs, held in place with the two wing nuts. You do not picture the light socket that fits in the hole in the head.

The early ford v8 magazine had a good article on the radios ,a couple years back or more, I think yours is correct for a open car if the spk is there.

Looks like the one I have in my closet for my `35 Cabriolet. If I remember correctly it is supported with two carriage bolts up through the firewall.

The radio is correct for an open car. I believe you can get the correct mounting bolts/washers on e-Bay

It looks like the correct radio for an open '35, to me.
The closed cars had their speaker located, in the center of the header.

is $250 too expensive for the radio box, don,t no if it is in working order
but looks ok from photos. it appears the open car radio,s are harder to find?

Open car radios are not that easy to find. If you need it $250 is not a bad price. You could spend $250 in gas just going to swap meets looking for one.

If you want your antique radio fixed right and economical get in touch with of Al Corbin in florida. tslfwb@ he has written books on old radios and is a great guy and a Fordbarner. Tell him Keith oh recommended his great work.

I would not be afraid to have $250.00 invested in a complete open car radio !
You had better jump, quick !

Hi Don,

Hi Don,
Would you please supply some information on the Spare Tire Antenna you use. Is the reception good? I can't imagine the runningboard antenna works too well. It's so low to the ground.
Thanks,
Bruce/CT
