1935 Brake linings

Doing the brakes on the 35 with mechanical brakes, lining material molded or
woven or a combination of one of each. Removing the rear drums I have puller that attaches to the wheel studs is it OK to use or should I invest in a puller that attaches to the center hub ?

Get the proper puller (the one that attaches to the center hub). If you try one that uses the studs, you may end up with a screwed up hub and have the drum still on the car. All of the cars I've had had conventional linings that worked fine, but I think the woven linings are better with mechanical brakes.

Woven linings are superior for mechanical brakes.

Third Gen has a very good, fast and cheap source for woven linings.

IF you plan on doing more work in the future, my "Vintage Precision" puller is the best V8 specific tool I have bought to date....WELL worth every cent you spend!!!!

Years ago I took my shoes and the woven linings I bought to a shop called something Friction for riveting. They are an industrial shop specializing in brakes, clutches, etc. They asked if it would be OK if they used their own lining material instead and I said OK. They also asked me to bring in the drums so they could arc the drums and shoes together. Worked out great.
