1935 Bettery Seal

Hi guys:

I have the battery seal that goes in front of the battery and the holes in the seal match up with holes in the front of the battery cover. My question is what connects the seal to the cover? or is it supposed to connect to the floorpan? I don't have a 35/36 to look at so I'm hoping one of you can hep me out. Thanks in advance.

I have one that is not installed and have not installed one or removed one. It appears the seal is placed through the front of the inside hole in the floor and and the short lip is placed between the floor and the cover, the last two inches on each side of the seal point rearward. with the metal cover in place the two front screws hold the seal in place. I would glue it in place and it appears the prestamped holes for the cables will not line up . Note some of the early 35 do not have screws on the front of the cover just the two sides.

Thanks for the info. Given that I have holes in the front lip of the battery cover and no holes in the floorpan, that begs the question of did the early 35's have the battery seal?

I don't think they did. My '35 coupe (early- door handles at the front of the door), had 19K original miles when I bought it and it didn't have one. It also had a battery cover with only two hold-down holes.

the late 35 and the 36 battery cover did have the front holes, Carpenters reproduction of the cover is without the front holes.
