1935 3 Window Question

I have a few 35 3 window show type cars and for some unknown reason I just bought yet another one....nice car I think it was in hotrod or something like that back in the 90's anyway my question is this one has a body tag from Briggs Manufacturing with the vin...I thought Briggs Made Packard Limo's? is this correct?

Briggs made bodies for many of the Automotive companies including Packard and Ford. That said, I'm not sure that your body tag is correct for your 1935 Ford 3-window coupe. First of all, your body tag should have a body number on it (48 720 - 1234), not a vin # and second, I don't believe that Briggs made 3-window coupe bodies for Ford in 1935. Murray probably made your coupe body while Briggs made the higher production Tudor and Fordor models. See attache image for original Murray body plate.

Ironhorse, I was going to see if I could find the answer to your question in the EFV-8 1935-36 Ford Book, but the author of the book beat me to it :). If anybody knows the answer to your question, it's Don.

Now, if you get too many of these '35 3w coupes and it gets to the point you want to sell one, give me a call. I looked for a nice one for several years and finally settled on a 5w coupe, but the desire is still there to find a nice original 3w.

Thanks guys...and thanks Don....I will take a picture of it and post it..it is number 18-176851A Which is what drew the question as I thought Murray built most of the bodys and Briggs was doing the limo's/Packard's...but I did hear that Briggs had a hand in the three window for Ford thus the question, and JM the three I have are not org. one of them can be seen on lakeside rods website, that is Rogers and he turned a lot of them into works of art..well so to speak..

Hi Everyone, ironhorse, good luck taking a nice picture of the tag.

There are several ways to deal with photos, but if I can be so bold as to suggest turning the flash off and using a flashlight or similar on the tag. Also consider turning down the camera quality which can make it easier to deal with the forum's photo file size limits.

When you're ready to post, use the 'go to advanced' the find the paperclip to select files from your hard drive or memory stick.

I usually try to 'preview post' before submitting it.

Can't wait to see some photos.
