1935-1936 Complete 21 Stud Flathead Engine - SOLD

sold sold sold sold - Only 1000 miles on this complete 21 Stud Flathead Ford Engine just removed last month from my older restored 1935 Ford Coupe (pictured in my avatar). As you see it is exactly how it was when removed from the car - no new paint or clean up. The sale includes air cleaner to oil pan – everything you see in the pictures and also includes the original dip stick, exhaust manifolds, starter and a clutch pressure plate and disk (re manufactured as well) which I removed so you could see the flywheel – a complete assembly. This engine was re manufactured by Portland Clutch in Portland Maine on June 24, 1977. A previous owner drove the car infrequently from 1977 until 1980 when it was stored properly for long term storage. I confirmed today (10/30/2010 that total mileage put on the engine from previous owner is 500. When I purchased the car in Sept 2009 I put the 500 miles on it and decided to put a later model Flathead for more power (also changing to hydraulic brakes). It has a .030 overbore and a .010/.010 Crank and rods as per the Portland Clutch rebuild tag affixed to the drivers side of the block. Walt Dupont of Portland Maine built this engine (has his initials stamped on the tag as well). It has approximately 1000 miles total run time including approximately 500 miles, which I put on it this summer. It starts instantly, runs whisper quiet. It did not overheat in 95-degree weather at a sustained 50 mph. (this is as fast as I dared go with a 4:11 rear and mechanical brakes!) It burned no oil and has a clean exhaust (no smoking). Engine stand is included. Per the 35-36 FORD BOOK (Early Ford V8 Club of America) page 98 indicates the engine is correct for a 1935 and 1936 Ford. “The 1936 engine, as introduced, was a carryover from 1935, and was used through the end of 1936 production.” I am not an Early Ford Judge so defer to you or other experts appropriate applications. Carburetor has large Ford script logo with a 94 cast in the body. I believe that 48 and 97 models were correct. Generator is original 6V as is starter. Ignition is standard 35 Ford. You can pick up in Connecticut (I am near Stamford) or you can arrange to ship at your cost.

I have a stock '34 coupe and was just wondering, did the later model flathead you swapped in have more power?

yes - the replacement flathead is a 1948 block with a ScOT supercharger with all the appropriate upgrades for high horse output. This unit for sale is a stock 1935 unit rebuilt to spec.
