1934 question

big job

I have had a week spot for 65 yrs for a 33 or 34. Finally after all those yrs.
one popped up bout 5 miles away. Not a now- a- day 10 yr barn find but a
real barn find that been asleep since WWII. By the way I grew up my fathers
auto shop and I can't remember ever seeing a 33-34's. A's 35,36's a million
40s to 53's. So what I can't figure is, on the grille trim that says Ford I know
it blends into the radiator cap which I don't have (looks like a 8N cap).
but the radiator cap is 'driver side of the center'? My thoughts are somebody
put a 1936 radiator in. Am I on track? If so think I'll get the right cap and
fix it in place somehow cause the radiator in there now, is good.
I'll get some pics. original paint which is some kind of
green with cream or straw
stripe and straw color wire wheels. Straight body but lots of rigga mortise. Lots of pb blaster just to get the doors opened. So it now sleeps in heat,
instead of damp dripping rain. here's a terrible pic. Sat. 12/19

Hi Everyone, Big Job, I don't know anything about '34's, but I found these two drawings that may help. They're from VanPeltSales.com but I found them with my search engine.

Take some pictures of the radiator top and tank - then we'll know for sure. I'm not quite sure what you're saying, but the radiator cap should be right in the middle (like a 32 is). There is a 34 radiator for sale in the parts section - you can see some good pictures of what a stock radiator should look like.

radiator cap should be in center and lines up with top of grille and also lines up with center of hood, meets hood strip.

33 & the 34 radiators do have the cap in the center. 35-6 and later years are off to the drivers side. If you have the hood what will fill the center of the top if you use the 35 style radiator? There is a 34 radiator for sale on this web site see the for sale section he has lots of photos. Get a Bob Drake or Mac's antique auto parts catalog and your going to have lots of pictures of the radiator cap, trim and the Ford script.

Good score.36 radiator won't work at all.Core in yours might not be savable since sat so long.Re core yours if tanks are good

A lot of aftermarket radiator have the fill hole relocated, it could have a replacement radiator.

Was this a Craigs List car from Mass?

Yes : One strong reason we jumped on this, because we saved couple
grand for shipping. This was about 5 miles away, seems these finds are always 3,000 miles away! So my radiator guess
was right Its probably a 36. The good= changed oil pb blasted everything
AND holy mackrel its a silent one running just hear the fan so thats a
big plus & did few laps around and no issues driveline is tight stops on a
dime. Bless mechanicals! I can only make out first digit odometer is '4'
so it well be 40,000 ish miles & judging by door panels, kick panels the
paint (door jams) I would say so. Its running on its own gas tank too.
I found the green pic on the net this is exactly the color of car wheels
and all we got.....

Hi there. There is a section (chrome) of the top of the grill which has been cut off. This missing piece goes completely around the radiator filler neck if it was there but it is missing also. Looks like a 1936 radiator which has the filler under the drivers side hood. To make it correct you require a 1934 radiator with the top centre filler neck, a complete grille or some how attach the missing section on your existing grille. It has to be chrome like the rest of the grille. A new grille top ornament (yours is broken off), and a 1934 radiator cap. Then it will be original as built when new. Regards, Kevin.

Somehow, when I looked on Craigs List in NJ, your car came up in Mass. It had no rear fenders, running boards or rear bumper, but it seemed as though they might be in the back seat. Love that original interior, just what I was looking for.

v12bill- this car was posted in every state on the eastern seaboard it seemed like. It was also on ebay for a short time. As you saw in the pictures, there was a lot of parts in the back of the car. It's missing rear fenders and the back seat. Sorry about my fathers (bigjob) wording. He must of forgot how to use punctuation in his sentences.
