1934 Pickup Interior

New to the Ford Barn but I have truly enjoyed this forum. I am looking at purchasing a seat for a 1934 Ford. My Grandfather had a Lincoln seat in there but I would truly like an original style seat. Does anyone recommend a business to purchase seat springs? I found some nice looking springs from Snyder’s Antique Auto, see below. Any thoughts or opinions on Snyder’s? Thanks in advance!

I believe your best bet to getting the correct seat for a 34 pu would be buying one from a butcher(rodder). Meaning there is more to the seat than just springs. The cushion has a wooden framed bottom and the back has two metal tabs which are screwed to the cab wood uprights.

Thanks for your replies. Does anyone have any pictures of the interior, dash/seats/headliner/etc., of a 1934 pickup? Currently there is cardboard on the headliner with a little on bilateral kickplate areas.

Originally, the only upholstery in a '32 - '34 truck was the seat coverings, the cowl trim panels, and the wind lacing around the door openings. There was no headliner.

I am sure they are unique, But I like my seat springs from Snyders which are in my 32 truck. Chris the spring guy even made them custom for my 6'1" frame. Good luck! Welcome to the Ford Barn and we need pictures!
Regards,
Chris

When we built my last 32 pickup we went a lot of work to finish the metal inside the cab really nice and give it a nice paint job along with finishing the exposed wood. Probably over kill. The new owner proceeded to cover all the interior with Dynamat ruining all our work.

That sort of in-cab prep and painting along with all of the surfaces of the bed ends up being more effort than painting a coupe or sedan of the period.

Looking forward with great anticipation for one DT & I orange pick-up restoration - finished product. I''m sure will be "the standard" of 32-34 Pick-Up's.

SO David.... With YOU being a stickler for "STOCK", and me not knowing crapola about old Fords, I guess it would be safe to assume that Henry somehow must have offered the color ORANGE on '32 pick-ups? Maybe something like special colors offered for "fleet" purchasers?

Coop,

"Golden orange" was a stock commercial/truck color offering in both the '32 and '33 U.S. model years. Presumably it was mostly chosen by state and local governments for their road work vehicles, just as something similar is popular today on the same kinds of trucks.

As you likely know, the DT&I railroad was at one time owned by Ford. It is part of the Canadian National rail system these days. Its tracks are a stone's throw from my hobby building (one of the remaining arches from when it was electrified in Henry's time shows in the background of one of the photos). Ford's archives have lots of photos of the railroad and of Ford vehicles with the period DT&I logo on them as will the one in my photos.
