1934 fordor door latches

I just started restoratiopn on a 34 fordor. The passenger side front door was not opening very well and when I took the latch assembly out I saw the problem. The latch has been repaired and not very well. It was welded in two places by the springs and neither work like they should. It doesn't appear that anybody repops these. Any suggestions? I would rather keep it stock and not put in bear claws.

Repair the improper "repair". You will find that through the years you will have to do a lot of that.

I have seen a number of the door locks posted on web sites Inc e- bay advertising 2nd hand locks. Not cheap to purchase, so I would start with the earlier advice and repair the one you have.

I've noticed that the latch parts on my 34 have had previous repairs. My 'vote' is with Lawson.... fix what needs fixin.

Doesn't any other year (and/or body style) Ford door latch interchange with the '33/'34 Fordor??
