I just completed the adjustment of the mechanical brakes on my 1934 Ford Victoria. They appear to be original. I am concerned I did something wrong because the brake peddle can be pushed to the floor with some effort. The brakes now stop the car OK but on a hard stop the peddle hits the floor.
I used the adjuster to make sure the brake shoes cause a little drag with the rods disconnected. I made sure the front and rear clevis’s were aligned vertically. Next I pulled the rods and adjusted the rod length to remove all slack.
The car stops true and does not pull. I want to make sure the brakes work correctly.
