1934 Ford Gas Gage

I tried to clean the gas gage on my 1934 Ford. I cleaned the glass tube very well, but I cannot blow air through the gas gage.

I want to pour MEK in the brass part located in the back of the gage to clean it. Can any one help? Ron

Most of those gauges plug up quite well, due that the original fluid is corrosive and dries out to a thick residue. You may try a mild acid solution, I doubt that Butanone will dissolve Bromide compound residues.
