1934 Ford Deluxe Three Window Coupe
From a collector’s point of view, this 1934 Ford Deluxe Three Window Coupe can sit in a prominent place in any collection. It will undoubtedly draw admiration for visitors, comparable to that of any other car marquee or price point. The 3W can also be driven around town and on the highway for fun with friends and family.
History
I found this Three Window Coupe on line in 2021 and quickly purchased it. As we know, they rarely come up for sale in this condition. Seems like everything out there is chopped up, hot rodded junk and the seller wants a ridiculous price for it. The VIN number indicates it was manufactured in June of ’34. In my four years of ownership, I have continued the refurbishing, upkeep and fine detailing of this fantastic, rare Three Window Coupe, as presented to you today.
Exterior
• The paint job is done in traditional black lacquer and in excellent condition, with correct Poppy Red pin striping.
• Included is arguably the rarest 1934 Ford accessory out there, a pair of Garwood Fender Skirts, with original circular V8 emblems, in excellent condition. As seen on Page ____ of the 1933-34 Restoration Manual. I have them wired to the fenders so they don’t come off by accident, or by a crafty thief! I painted the embossed flair with removable rubber paint, so the red could be peeled off and the skirts used on a different car with different striping color, or left black. These Garwood fender skirts sell for up to $10k a pair, if you could ever find some for sale.
• Another great accessory is the very hard to find luggage rack. I got some period correct suitcases and made a pair of proper leather straps to hold them in place
• The greyhound hood ornament on the car is from my collection. It is a real, 91 year old original
• Chrome/stainless is excellent and highly polished, original grille, bumpers, windshield frame, headlights, cowl lights, handles, and working horns
• Spare tire lock with original Hurd key, locking Ford Script gas cap, 3” peep mirror
• Glass is perfect, with Ford Safety bugs, the driver and passenger windows roll down as they should with the 1934 Ford feature for cigar smoke to be released, the first crank pulls the glass back a few inches, then down…
• Original roof rack strip, which is rarely still on a car of this age, roll down back window, crank out windshield, working cowl vent, perfect running boards
• Hard to find 17” trim rings on Lester Tire Company wide white walls with plenty of tread
Mechanics
• Sporting a rare ’33 Ford air cleaner, the 1936 24 stud flathead is smooth and strong, the car starts right up, drives great and is reliable. Can be driven on the highway for out of town adventures
• Since the car runs strong enough to drive anywhere, I put a set of 1940 hydraulic brakes on it, which is a great added feature
• The May of 1934 Transmission is solid, shifts well and doesn’t pop out of second gear, as many of them do
• All the lights and electrical work, as well as the horns, yes the vacuum wiper works.
• Steering box filled with John Deere corn head grease for smoother operation, has electric fuel pump with toggle switch on the bottom dash lip
• New Optima battery and I just did an oil change, steering and suspension are just fine, car tracks down the road great when driving
Interior
• Correct LeBaron Bonney Bedford Cord interior is very clean and comfortable, looks and feels much better than the other option of Mohair.
• I did the correct walnut burl wood graining, and also did (and providing) a woodgrained standard glove box door and a complete woodgrained ash tray radio face. So the new owner can mix and match, remove the glove box radio, remove the standard ash tray, and replace with regular glove box and an ash tray radio head/face.
• Reluctantly, I am also including the very rare, working Sandoz Mirror Clock, (I was offered $4k for it), most time you see a mirror clock it is a side wind, mocked you with a Fold logo sticker in it
• Another great accessory, the dual Temp/Gas gauge. I restored it with the fuel side set at ¾ tank, not connected, and the temp side works, it just need to be installed to the driver side radiator hose
• Has a pair of rare, single hinge original sun visors
• The glove box radio has just the face installed, for style and looks, hardly any knows what it is, most people guess a second speedometer! (The radio box not installed, but included)
• All the interior knobs, handles, escutcheons, window cranks with marble knobs, the sun visor hinges, working door lock knobs are original pieces. I sent them to Van Nuys Plating to have them properly Nickel plated as correct for 1934, NOT chromed.
• When I bought the car, I set the speedometer to zero miles, so I could keep track of how many miles I drove it, which as of today is 545 miles
• cigar lighter, original 1934 Chicago World’s Fair gear shift knob, (made out of soybean), electrical kill switch on the floor, original Hurd ignition key
• The rumble seat is the correct vinyl, and opens as designed with the spring release handle on the inside. A fun thing to do, having admirers stand by while you reach in and and pull the handle, and watch them as the rumble seat flips open! Also has the proper accessory pouch on the passenger side
Other Items
• The Coupe is titled, registered (with modern plates) and insured with Hagerty in my name
• Included with the 3W: a 1934 California License plate, the original radio box, which worked in 2016 when I took it out of a different ‘34 Ford, a set of 1934 Ford tools, a standard radiator cap so you can take the greyhound off so it doesn’t get stolen, a generic outdoor car cover that has a soft underside
• Sold as-is no warranty, buyer is responsible for transport of the car
• Call 831-238-8235 and e-mail is: fullscalemodels@yahoo.com
I can send a link of 150 photos to potential buyer
