1934 Air Cleaner

Restoring a couple of air cleaners. Completed the first one and hadn’t opened the second one until today. I’ve handled many air cleaners at swap meets etc and this is the first that I’ve encountered with for lack of better words, a horse hair filter under the cover.

Many of the filters were fitted with the horsehair pad. Not unusual in those days.

I'd restored a 90 series '31 Buick. The seats were padded with horsehair.

As where Vw's for a very long time......Hence the standard interior "smell" of a 50's, 60's, at least 1970 Beetle....better than that "new car" smell,

Ha! I recall that!

And, ya know from a guy with eleven horses (me), well, I enjoy the smell :)

Mike, what did you do the brass like filter element, did you make a new one ,it looks very good in your pics.

Back in the late 1995-8 I bought several kits from Bob Drake and put them on a shelf. Using up my supplies.

Correction…instructions are dated 1994. How time flies.
