1933-1936 Transmission Cover Seal

Trying to figure out where this part goes. C&G and Dennis Carpenter list 40-7012130 as a Transmission Cover Seal for 1933-36 passenger car. This is separate from the Parking Brake Seal 48-700384.

I haven't seen the location of this part mentioned in the V8 Club restoration book. The small slot in 40-702130 doesn't make sense to me, if this fits over the transmission shift tower.

Any advice on exactly where this part is installed would be appreciated.

thanks,

Ken

I have one of these on my restored 32 5win. The smaller rectangular slot fits
tightly over the base of the emergency brake handle and the other does the
same over the shift tower. Don't recall having one on my 36 humpback the
last time I had the floorboard off.

The seal in your photo was not used in '35-'36s; the original was in two pieces, one for the transmission tower and the other for the hand brake.

Don't believe everything in the parts books. Look in the 35-6 restoration book, p.12. 35 and 36 have two separate sponge seals (neither extend over the parking brake) for this area and both are different from each other, because the shape of the shifter base is different shape. I don't believe either transmission top seal is reproduced. It may be best to use the 33-34 seal and cut it so resembles the 35 or 36. I am not sure how Mac's 78-7012130 would work, for the transmission and I do not see the parking brake seal in their catalog???
