1932 tudor quarter window channel question

I recently bought a pair of quarter window channels for my 32 tudor sedan. The channel doesn't reach from one side channel to the other when installed in the car. It wants to "flop" from one side to the other when I move the mechanism up and down (glass is not installed yet). Is this correct or did I get the wrong parts?

Are you talking about the metal channel at the bottom of the glass or the felt lined channel the glass runs in? If you are talking about the metal channel on the glass, it doesn't go clear across the bottom of the glass on pretty much any car. It would catch on the channel the glass runs in if it went to close to the edge.

It sounds like that you are saying that the lower channel that the glass sets in flops up and down as it is cranked. With no glass to run in the felt channels and keep it square, that sounds very possible. Cut a piece of masonite to the glass size and try it.
