1932 rear springs

In my experience, '32 rear springs, unlike the front ones, tend to have survived 90+ years with very little loss of their original characteristics. Good used ones are out there at a fraction of the cost of an Eaton replacement.

Isn't a 33-34 the same thing?
"IF" your goal is "Originality/As Henry Ford Built It" concours correct!!! Yes & No. 1933 would be the same, 1934 would be different. The end detail on the individual leafs are square ends on 1934, not the long shield ends like 1932 & 33

Well, I guess I've never seen one then. Every curved rear spring I've had, has had the square ends.

Here is some end detail photos, the first being 32/33 style, the second shows a mis-mash of 32/33 a couple of square 34's and I think a 35 all in one. The last I believe is 1935 to show the shorter, stubbier ends and change from both 32/33 & 1934.

Yes, you are correct I remember now. I was thinking they were a square end like the front springs.

No, production '32 through early production '34 front springs had the same end-of-leaf taper as shown in #12 above. The square-lea front spring and square-leaf rear springs were adopted as a running change early in the '34 model year. The '34 springs became the service parts, hence they would show up on earlier cars and commercial vehicles when the springs replaced, a more common occurrence with the front spring.

And all three model years' main (#1) spring leaf is the same (B- 5564-A or -B depending on the body type application). Six '32 passenger car body type springs have nine leaves; no '33-'34 body type had a rear spring of less than ten leaves.
