1932 Pines Winterfront Controls

I just got these controls for a 1932 Ford Pines Winterfront grill.
I am told they are not correct for the 32 grill and was wondering if anyone has pics of the 32 model or if any one has a 32 control kit for sale.

I dont know the year or type of car this one was made for, but could use some info from you guys.

Also, give me the low down on how it all works.
There is some info in the new 1932 Ford Book, but it is a little vague.

Thanks for the help
Pictures would be great.

The deuce winter fronts I've had never had the automatic controls would be interesting to see if yours are right. I have assumed mine were cable controled.

Here is a picture of a 32 "B" control valve similar to yours. If the valve openings are 1 3/4" then i would assume that is a V8 version control. If the case dimension are another size then it is for some other Pines unit.

Great information Dick ! , As long as I have been doing this, I have never seen the controls for a 1932 Ford Pines Winterfront.

Dick
The hose openings are 1 3/4, and I wanted this set up for a friends V8 pickup, but he is convinced that it is not correct.

He says that it needs to be electric over Vacuum ????
He has never seen one other than one pic in the 32 Ford Book.

Mine looks very similar to yours, I think you may be right, Im glad to see your pics

Both Ford and Pines sold their version of a Winterfront, The picture in the 32 book is mine, the same pictures that I posted.I think you are still missing some parts but some are better than none. The vacuum operated unit advertisement is from Pines.

Thanks again Dick
Could you give us the low down on how it all works?
Does this thermostat go inside the control?
Is it hot air in the pipes????

Just always have my eyes peeled.
I have kept in touch with a few 32 guys that I sold parts too, and this kind of stuff comes up once in a while.

Still looking for more info on this stuff

Thanks again Dick

This looks like a thermostatic BELLOWS unit. It's a length of large diameter brass tubing that has had the sides convoluted. It should have air in it and when it's heated to a certain temperature, it will expand lengthwise. They're used in steam traps. They're put into a valve type unit in a steam circuit. When the line is cold, they're short and the valve is open allowing steam to flow out. As the steam heats the unit, it expands closing the valve preventing the flow and loss of steam.
