I just received "THE EARLY FORD V8, FRANCIS - DEANGELIS" purchased at Bob Drake for $50 + 15 shipping & handling.

On pg.68 it lists the paint groups as Start of production until April 1932 and then April 15,1932 to end of production.
In the April 15 to end the Winter leaf Brown Light was used as body & radiator shell, with Winterleaf brown dark as moldings and Tacoma Cream for the wheels. Wnterleaf brown light was replaced by Emperor brown in June 1932 as noted.
Other color combos are also listed.

Subsequent information found in Ford's archives put the change being made in September. That better explains the virtual non-existence of surviving examples of the Emperor brown colored cars compared to survivors with the Winterleaf brown colors.

In one of your previous posts you mention the Winterleaf Brown dark is the body color and the Winter leaf brown light the molding. Is there any evidence that this is the case compared to the mentioned book?

If I did, it was in error. I've not encountered any evidence that it was offered in that combination, only in the light as the main body color and the dark as the moulding/wheelhouse color.

MANILA BROWN was used fom start of production to MAY 1932
WINTERLEAF BROWN LIGHT from MAY to JULY
EMPEROR BROWN from JULY to end of production

Manila brown, a carryover Model A paint color, was used only on station wagon steel parts until the inventory was reduced to service requirements. It was not used on '32 passenger cars.
