1932 Model B pickup dash/firewall questions

I am currently working on my fire wall. Where the toe board mounts to the base of the fire wall there are swaged nuts, can some one tell me what the thread pitch is supposed to be? They have been enlarged over the years and I would like them to be correct. Also is there a drawing of the firewall with all the correct hole locations. I would like to make sure that I have no extra holes prior to paint work.

Thank you in advance!

#12 x 24. There is some variance on hole locations depending on whether the firewall is early, mid-year (the vast majority), or late. Any idea which version you have?

Thanks David for the reply. I'm assuming mid-year (chassis # is early-mid May), I was reading your book this evening and I'll have to measure to see where cowl drain tube is. Again I assume that this fire wall came with the truck. If I get around to it I'll take a picture and post it.

Here's a link that might help...

(Click on the picture for the text describing the holes.)

Excellent. But it should be noted that the holes for mounting the firewall pad and one of the holes for the 4 cylinder engine snubber (the holes were there but not used on the V8) is missing in the illustration. The mounting holes for the B coil (also there but not used on the V8), one holes for the mounting the throttle shaft (I think the V8 is there but the 4 cyl is missing) and the gas pedal entrance and attachment. I think a couple of holes for gas line clips are missing. I will check my car in the morning.

When I checked in the morning I found 6 holes to attach the instrument panel and one threaded hole apparently there for the vacuum assisted clutch that was never adopted. The best approach would be to post a photo of your firewall with any existing but unidentified holes highlighted.

I was certain that the nuts in my '32 firewall had been enlarged too, but the #12-24 screws worked perfectly.

Maybe you can use this picture. It's from a mid-year wagon. the letters can be useful. I used it to identify the correct holes on the old barn.

Keep V-8ing and 4-banging!

I have some clear shots of my firewall in my album. It's a model 18. May be different than yours.
