Does anyone have a source for these rear u bolt "bars" for a 32 Ford?... I only seem to be able to find ones for 28-31, or later ones.

I need some pretty quick.

Thanks for any help.

That looks like the front spring plate (incorrect terminology) B 5458. The Green Bible shows this part fits 1928-34. You might try some of the Model A suppliers. If it is the rear it is probably B 5709-C that fits '28-'40, and again try the Model A suppliers. Have you tried the ones that you found for '28-'31 or are you just taking the word of a Model A supplier that doesn't have the information for the later cars? Did they tell you what the part number was for their part?

It is for the rear. I took a chance and bought some for a model A from Mac's. I think these are the ones I got... A5708A. They didn't fit.

My 32 spring is actually a new Posies one (10 leaf) but is basically the same as an original (it has the "bend" in it) The crossmember is original 32 Ford.

How don't they fit? My guess is that your spring is thinner then the original spring. Will a spacer solve the problem? If I remember correctly I have a seven leaf spring on my roadster and needed to add a spacer.

These were made in various heights for differing thickness of the springs. Roadster springs had fewer leaves and the "plates" were higher. Fordor cars had more leaves and the "plates" were lower.

B-5709-C is not even listed in a 1932 parts book . It is listed in a 1935 parts book as 1935 only . In the 32 book B-5712-A [ 7/16" ] and B-5712-B [ 1/2" ] are listed for spring B-5560-A .
I'll try searching for that part number B 5709-C and see what I find.

I was basing what I said on Page 197 of the Green Bible. Since it is a repair parts manual it might miss a few details but it should show what will work. I have found errors in it before.

What matters here is not silly bickering but the spacing between the bolts being 3.50" . A's are narrower . The other thing that matters is the height = distance between the spring seating surface and the surface the nut tightens up against . From what I dug up the " 5712 " variants are 1.06" high . SOO if it was me I would try both dimensions and old #'s in my search . This is common stuff and the place Deucelover mentioned can probably cure it for you . Roger at Little Dearborn in Mpls MN probably has plenty also . Fred at SouthSide obsolete in Fairbault Mn may have NOS ones . ADDING - volume 1 page 4-41 & 4-42 of the EV-8 Clubs 32 book covers this well .

All those with a 40 part number prefix have the same bolt hole spacing as the B-prefix parts in this case which may widen your alternatives if strict originality is a secondary consideration.
