1932 ford roadster rear spring

I purshased a compound rear spring from posies which has 10 leaves. Is this the correct number of leaves ? I am more familar with A's in which a sedan has 10 and a roadster has 7 .Building a highboy and it sits pretty high . Posies says it will drop it aproximatley 2 inches . and that it will settle after driving it a while. Truth or fiction??? I read someplace to take out #3& #7 leaves out to drop it lower. any body out there have any comments from past experence????? There has to be somebody out there who ran into this . Thanks ford barners
 
According to a march 1934 parts book a 32 model B-40 or roadster takes spring B-5560-C and this spring is 32 roadster only . Nine leaf . The DeAngelis book backs this up on page 45 . The DeAngelis book info does not match :confused: some of the info in this early parts book on 33-34 rear springs though . The green bible doesn't have the detailed info of the early book either .
 
I have found that Posie's springs have no problem settling out. On some cars I've had to add a spacer to raise the car and on some I've had to remove some leafs to get it to ride. It will vary from car to car.
 
There's a lot more to "proper spring" than number of leaves. Material thickness and leaf length both contribute to the spring rate which is what determines "ride." It's possible that the Posies spring is made of fewer leaves of thicker material. Also, today's driving conditions are somewhat different than they were when these cars were new.
 
Do posies even make a 1932 spring?

I didnt think anyone reproduced a proper replica of a curved 1932 spring, only a later straight one.

Yes, Posies makes a curved 32-34 rear spring, part # 3234R. I just put one in my '33 and am very pleased so far.
 
thanks for all the quick replys.getting ready to paint .just have to reassmble and drive it to let it settle . down the road I will follow through with what happens.AS they say don't through nothing away !!!!!
