This 1932 Ford Model B Open Cab Pickup has been in our family since 1939 (86 years) when my dad traded a Model A and a horse for it.
* Long Beach, CA assembly plant
* Originally used as a fire service vehicle by County of San Luis Obispo, California
* In the same family since 1939. Dad traded a Model A and a saddle horse for it.
* Clear California title; registered, insured.
* Always a California truck
* Always garaged, even in 40s and 50s
* Powder-coated frame, firewall, multiple suspension parts, fender supports, bumper arms, front and rear ends
* Running boards: recovered originals
* Front cross member replaced with good original. Welded in, not riveted.
* Mechanical brakes. Most shoes relined. New springs.
* Commercial radiator shell - original
* Engine: professional rebuild by Phil Andrews, Oak View, CA. Full-pressure oiling w/pressure regulator and oil filter. Balanced crank. Lightened flywheel with V-8 style clutch assembly.
* Rebuilt original 3-speed transmission
* 1934 rear end was installed in 1950s, w/shortened torque tube. Rebuilt with 3.56 or 3.78 gears (can’t remember).
* Correct black vinyl upholstery kit installed from LeBaron-Bonney
* New seat springs and wood frames
* Original gas tank cleaned and sealed
* All steel sheet metal
* Dual side-mount spare tires
* 6 new blackwall Coker tires 6.00 x 16 on 16” spoke, black, powder-coated wheels

* Original 32 headlights, polished stainless steel. Never had any original black-painted shells, so I don’t know if these were swapped out before 1939 or if it was ordered this way as a fire vehicle. Converted to 12v Halogen headlight kit from Bob Drake.

* 3 seatbelts installed
Additional Description:* Engine or flywheel/clutch has some vibration, but runs good.
* Will idle for 30 or more minutes without overheating or stalling. Drives & stops.
* Original steel bed has extra holes where fire equipment was installed.
* Bodywork is from mid-1960s, and has been preserved with new paint, not finely restored. Front fenders had cracks across the crowns and were welded in 60s. All joints have been painted and the frame has new webbing when reassembled.
* Needs rear open cab wood cap replaced.
* Original top and bows (an option) were not installed from the factory. An old set of non-correct bows is included. These are folding and in poor condition, but were the ones used on the truck from at least the early 1950s.
* Original windshield glass. Not perfect, but serviceable. Rare original windshield stanchions.
