1932 ford front shock help

Ok so I've been on the hunt for some original 32 ford front shocks. I have a set that I was gonna rebuild but the cores are junk. I've called around and talked to Verne at M&s. first off I have to say he is a super nice guy. Really like him.

Ok so he said he had a set of nice originals that he would check out/ go over for me then ship them out to me.he said they were a matched set and the harder to find ones with the internal adjusters. I was way happy we agreed on a price and the deal was done.

Got them in the mail today and had some questions. The junk set I have that came on my 32 look like this and the black set he sent me are way different. They have a base like a model a but the holes are off set and the cap is way different. Was there different variations to the 32 shocks or are they model a bases with different caps on them. Any help would be great. And the number on the shocks I got is pictured too

I know there was a company reproducing them in the 70s. Is this a set of those shocks. And if they are are they as good as originals. Then the question is should I keep them or send them back as I thought I was buying originals and if these are not should I still run them?

No doubt from the point of view of function those shocks that you received would work okay, but if originality is your goal as well, they're post-'32 service shocks. I can't tell for sure from your photos, but normally when the outer cover has raised letters, the cover is spun on rather than screwed on with a separate locking ring below the cover like original '32 shocks. Also the shape of the base is inconsistent with '32 original production shocks.

Early Model B passenger cars and commercial vehicles were equipped with manually-adjustable shocks like the one in the photo below. The base is higher than a Model A shock by about 1/4". They're quite rare as the V-8 type shock with automatic adjustment replaced them on those vehicles early in '32 model year vehicle production.
