1932 Ford drivers side tail lamp stand identity help

37 Coupe

Well-known member
The larger or longer of the two shown was on my '32 coupe when I bought it. I knew right away it was not right as tail lamp stood a couple of inches higher then right side. I knew right side though probably added later on was the correct 1932 Ford stand from a post a couple weeks ago. Now I would like to at least know what the longer stand was meant for, truck or some sort of commercial vehicle. Thank You.

There are a fair number of original types of tail lamp brackets for '32s, but the tall one in your photos is not one of them. Homemade, could be.

Okay,I never would have guessed that it was fabricated by a past owner,it is better made than the original one as far as welding and metalwork.

Your original has lots more welding on it than it had when new. It has been broken at least once.

Additionally, there really isn't adequate room for the wires and bulb sockets exiting at the back of the lamp housing on that tall bracket.
