1932 Ford 3 window coupe windshield rubber install

My friend has a Brookville stock height 3 window coupe and is having problems installing a Drake windshield rubber seal. The rubber seal is small by a couple of inches. Do you normally have to stretch the seal and if so, by how much?

Try putting the rubber in hot water that will make it soft and easy to stretch.
