Original firewall seal looks to be in very good shape except somewhat hardened and stiffer than it likely should be. Any suggestions as to something to soften it up and make it a little more pliable without causing any harm?
 
As Krylon32 wrote, reuse the original as the reproduction is far off the mark requiring a lots of rework to fit properly.
 
I have found enamel or urethane reducer cleans rubber pretty well. The repros are junk and I always use originals on my 32s.
 
Tire care products will work to soften rubber- loses some elements to time/air. Newc
