1932 Fire wall vibration damper, does it help

The car I purchased has a fire wall damper. It is stored in a box in the trunk and not on the car. The seller said he did not know what it was for. In reading different threads it seems like it is for engine vibration. So, if I installed it seems like it would send those vibrations to the body cab. And if I remember correctly the 4 cylinders vibrate quite a bit. What is the advantage of having it on the car.

If the two felt pads are properly greased, the vibration that will pass through to the cowl will be minimal.
