Does anyone know the proper way to remove the bakalite/plastic switch knob from the dash light switch on the insterment panel ???? I'm trying to move the switch from one panel to another better one.
It appears the knob needs to be removed so the unit can slide out the back of the panel. I've tried carefully putting 4" vice grips on the brass stem and unscrewing the knob by hand, ccw of course.
I have a small cotton web strap wrench I could put around the knob and applying pressure carefully- the knob is in beautiful condition and I don't want to damage it.
I'm thinking next about dipping the knob in boiling water to see if it would expand enough to unscrew. I'm assuming it's threaded on as many push/pull knobs are.
Hope someone can guide me. Thank You
