1932 coupe dashboard question

No. The 3W is wider and is more curved. It might as well be from a Hupmobile as far as fitting.

The 3W dashboard is 42.5" wide and the 5W dashboard is 41" wide. That's the easy part. The distance from dash mounting point at the belt line to the firewall is at least 2" more for the 3W. As a result the 3W dash is deeply dished so that the oval opening meets the instrument panel. By contrast since the distance is less for the 5W the dash is therefore relatively flat. Also, the 3W dash mounts on an angle corresponding to the cut of the door while the 5W dash mounts vertical which also corresponds to the cut of the door. Is it easy? yup, if you have a 55 gallon drum of elbow grease, a bundle of determination and a lot of time and money.

And then there is the minor matter of completely different methods of attachment for the two dashboards. Make that two 55 gallon drums.

If you have a good 3W dash, sell it and you should be able to get enough to buy 3 or 4 dashes from 5 windows/sedans !!!

The person that massaged this one into my Vicky said it was fairly easy. It is welded to a piece that fits into the original mounting holes that the original dash bolted to. Sides were trimmed about 3/4” and top edge was rolled over to follow the contour of the cowl. It’s a Brookville piece as I wasn’t in a position to spend 4K + on an original. I am not using an original tunnel so that wasn’t an issue either.
