1932 brake rod length

Hello.

I bought a set of 4 mechanical brake rods for my 32 (missing on the car when I bought it). But they are way to long.
I have a dual shaft system.
I could shortening by myself but I’m not sure of the initial position of the dual shaft.
If someone has the info.
Thanks

Harold,Maybe this pic will help. Its an orig '32 Ford French chassis.Sorry I don't have a pic where the rods connect to the backing plates.Remember that 1 set goes to the parking brake and functions with the parking brake handle..That should not be difficult to figure out.Your pic was to dark so I edited it .

While not entirely evident from your photo, I am assuming that your car is left-hand-drive and uses four brake rods, one for each wheel (and not the more complex six-rod configuration with two rods for each rear wheel).

The front rods were originally the same as on North American LHD single cross shaft systems, namely B-2495, 50 7/8" long. The rear rods were unique to two cross shaft systems, namely BF-2499-A, 54 13/16" long. (The rod measurements are from the center of the hole for the clevis pin to the end of the threads on the other end of the brake rod.)

The brakes should be set up so that the arms on the cross shaft for the front brakes end up in a vertical position followed by the arms on the second cross shaft for the rear brakes also being in a vertical position at the beginning of engaging the brakes with either the foot pedal or hand brake lever.

Sheldon's photo is of the more complex six rod system.

Thanks David G !!

Sorry as I thought you had the 6 rod system which was in France and Germany.

Don’t be sorry. These cars are quite mysterious.

Last september, I looked at a 32 made in Belgium. On this one, 6 rods system.
Mine was build in France, 4 rods.
On another belgian car, only 4...

These are from David Rehor's excellent reference book, "The 1932 Ford Book."

I’ve check the rods.
Mine are about 1/4’’ longer than on the table.
When I fit the clevis on the cross shaft, you can see how longer are the rods.
Si I suppose, the initial position of the cross shaft isn’t right.

Also, one rod is 5/16 UNF tread, the other ones are bigger.
